Solar Cricket Academy lift Chhatia Cup

Solar Cricket Academy emerged champions in the 1st Chhatia Cup Inter-Club T20 Cricket Tournament, defeating Rising Student Club in the hard-fought final by two runs here at Bhubanananda Odisha School of Engineering (BOSE) Ground today.

Solar Cricket Academy allrounder Pradeepta Das was the cynosure of all eyes in the final match, hitting an unbeaten 32 and bagging four wickets. He was adjudged the man of the match. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and runners-up side Rs 15,000.

Prayas Singh Thakur and Tapas Das (both Solar Cricket Academy) pocketed the prizes as man of the tournament and best bowler respectively, while prize for best batsman went to Biplab Samantaray of Rising Student Club.

Union Sporting Club secretary Pradeep Chauhan graced the presentation ceremony as chief guest and handed over the trophy. Earlier, in the semifinals, Solar Cricket Academy beat Juvenile Club by 29 runs, while Rising Student Club got the better of Saheed Sporting Club by 61 runs.

Organised by Union Sporting Club, in association with Chhatia Youth Sports Club from April 1, the tournament was inaugurated by SCB Medical College Associate Professors Dr Manoranjan Mallick and Dr Rajesh Dora in the presence of Union Sporting Club secretary Pradeep Chauhan, Chhatia Youth Sports Club president Manoj Das and secretary Sukant Das.
